Free Introductory Watercolor Classes week 4

Join me for a fun night of relaxing watercolor painting.  I will be showing beginner techniques, getting you used to working with this fun and relaxing medium.  Watercolors are  great for personal illustration projects, they are easy to use and portable, making them the perfect hobby.  They are also gaining popularity in professional design work for their authentic feel.

In this series of 1 hour workshops I will be showing you how to work with the water and the pigments for maximum effect.  We will allow the water to dictate the look and feel of our works, allowing us to blend colors direction on the paper.  We will be painting Iris flowers as a way to speed up the arrival of spring!

Week 1 : I will show you the basics of making marks with the paint, and also tips to allow room for error and fixing those errors.  We will do a little bit of exploration with layering, adding and removing paint, creating bleeds blends and textures.  We will use these techniques to paint some simple Iris flower silhouettes.

Week 2 : we will use those same techniques but push them a little further to add more details, gaining a deeper understanding of controlling color and value in our works.

Week 3 : we will take a more illustrative approach and add some linework reminiscent of the Art Nouveau Movement and the works of Alphonse Mucha.

Week 4 : we will work on some resist techniques as well as experimenting with watercolor pencil crayons to add texture and detail to our works.

Each week has a final project and you will be provided the designs in advance.  Feel free to get creative and find your own reference if you choose :)  But I will be providing images in advance for those who less adventurous or experienced with drawing.
